On 24 April 2024, the 1 Field Sqn Association will unveil and dedicate the “Bridge of Friendship” between Australia and France, a memorial to all Australian Army Engineers is to be dedicated in Amiens, France. A 10 day tour has been put together that will include the bridge dedication from the 22 April – 2 May 2024. See booking information below.
The dedication will take place in the presence of President Macron and Australian dignitaries both Political and Military.
This bridge is symbolic as it will cross the Somme Canal just as Australian Army Engineers did on 8 August 1918 during the Battle of Amiens.

This bridge represents the work and valour of Australian Army Engineers from Gallipoli, Middle East, Western Front and all those Engineers behind the lines such as railway companies, forestry companies. A special mention must go to the Tunnelling Companies (Hill 60)
